Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

It's Monday! What are you reading?

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

This week I finished reading - Precious Thing by Colette McBeth - I really enjoyed this debut novel.

This week I am currently reading -

Murder on the Links by Agatha Christie - halfway through the second of the Poirot mysteries, this time we are in France.

Inflicted by Ria Frances - this is very moving so far, two people, one old, one young, both troubled, finding friendship and kindness.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J. K. Rowling - reading this one on and off over the weeks.

Next I think I might read -

Disclaimer by Renee Knight

Disgrace by Jussi Adler-Olsen

  4. Precious Things looks interesting. Murder on the Links is a good one but not one of my favorites. Hope you're enjoying it! I don't know what Disclaimer is about but I absolutely love the cover. I'm reading The Empire Girls set in New York in the 1920s right now as well as The Hexed which is a romantic suspense with ghosts and witches set in Salem, Massachusetts. I think Agatha Christie's Peril in End House is coming up soon. Happy reading!

  8. Looks like you're reading some great books this week. I've only read the first of the Poirot books, but have been meaning to continue with the series. I guess I should try to do so this year.

  12. Like many of us bloggers I see that you are in the midst of more then one book simultaneously. I do tend to try to limit this to two books at any one time for myself.

My wife recently finished up all of the Miss Marple,e books and I think that she will be starting the Poirot series soon.

  13. I thought I read a lot but you have read so many this year already! I only ever read one book at a time. Enjoyed my catch up with your reviews, never seem to have much time for visiting friends blogs these days. :(
