Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

Beautiful Blogger Award!

Every so often when you are trawling through your email inbox collection of offers, sales and spam, you come across something wonderful.

Earlier this week I found out that I have been nominated for a Beautiful Blogger Award by Rachel at A Discount Ticket to Everywhere

Thank you so much Rachel. I am delighted to be nominated. It means an awful lot to me to know people like the blog. I work hard at it.

When you're nominated:

  • You write seven facts about yourself
  • You link to the blog of the person who nominated you
  • You link to seven bloggers whom you think deserve the award
  • You let those bloggers know they have been nominated

Here are my seven facts:

  1. I love rabbits!
  2. My favourite destination of all time is New Zealand.
  3. I lived in Germany for a year when I was a student.
  4. I don't eat red meat or poultry.
  5. I love taking photographs.
  6. I would love to have a paid job in a bookshop, or have another paid job involving books/writing.
  7. I wasn't sure about ebooks at first, but I now have a Kindle and admit I do like it.
Here are seven more bloggers I am passing the award on to:
  1. Megan at Storybook Love Affair - a beautiful blog of books, thoughts and pretty things.
  2. Sharon at Jera's Jamboree - a fab, thoughtful book blog, and a supportive fellow blogger.
  3. Sue at A Writer's Life - thoughts and musings from lovely writer and reader Sue Uden.
  4. Josie & Jaffa at JaffaReadsToo - a fab book blog with not one but two owners!
  5. Lainy at So many books, so little time - another fab and supportive, honest book blogger.
  6. LindyLouMac at LindyLouMac's Book Reviews - fab book reviews and author profiles.
  7. Sheryl at Sheryl's Ramblings - sunny blog from this fab lady and writer.
There are a large number of fabulous, quality book blogs out there which are all brilliant, do explore them all, I have picked just seven here as per the 'rules' of the award.

Congratulations! You must be so pleased!!

I lived in Germany too, when I was working a couple of years ago. I was in Duesseldorf and I loved it.

Will check out the other blogs you've recommended as they're obviously very good.

    1. Hi Laura, Thanks for commenting. It was lovely to get this, yes, and a complete surprise.

I lived near Duesseldorf and spent a lot of time there! I loved it too. I miss it still, even though it's a while ago now.

  3. A rabbit bit me once so I'm not with you on your No. 1 but I'm definitely there on the ebook readers. Couldn't figure out what all the fuss was until I bought one and now I love it!

    1. Thanks for commenting Eugenia. Sorry to hear about your unhappy experience with rabbits! I agree totally about ebook readers, at first I think I totally ignored them, then one day I realised how good it would be and yes, now I use it a lot.
