It's Monday! What Are You Reading? is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.
Last week I read a graphic novel, Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol, and I finished reading How Green Was My Valley by Richard Llewellyn. That's two more off my tbr pile as part of the challenge I'm doing this month.
I'm currently reading The Last Anniversary by Liane Moriarty, and Station Eleven by Emily St John Mandel, both from my tbr pile too. I loved the other Liane Moriarty novel that I read, The Husband's Secret, and I am three quarters of the way through this one and finding it an enjoyable and intriguing easy read. I feel like Station Eleven is a book just about everyone else has read, and I am glad to finally be reading it and discovering what it's all about. I am a third of the way through and enjoying the development of the story. I thought the beginning was very good too.
On the blog, I posted a review of Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig.
Thank you to everyone who commented on this post or read it.
I also shared a great guest post by crime writer Rachel Abbott about her research.
We had a lovely day in the New Forest at the weekend, it was still a bit cool but bright and clear and dry and it feels like Spring is breaking through. Then we discovered a new walk not far from where we live on Sunday, and Daisy made some new four-legged friends.
I also received the latest copy of Newbooks Magazine in the post, and it was an honour to see my blog featured in there. I've written a post about it here.

What are you reading?

I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in the world who hasn't read Liane Moriarty yet. I've heard fantastic things about her books so I'm glad this 2nd book is as good as the 1st you read. I'm going to have to pick up Station 11 as well. I agree - it seems like everyone has read it or is reading it!
ReplyDeleteI would recommend her for an intriguing and engrossing read but that is fairly easy too, if that makes sense!
DeleteI have loved every book I've read by Liane Moriarty...I still have one to read on Sparky, Three Wishes.
ReplyDeleteCongrats again on your feature in the magazine...and thanks for visiting my blog.
That's good to hear, I'm glad you like her books too, I will read more of them. Thank you that's kind.
DeleteI enjoyed Anya's Ghost a few years ago and I have come to really enjoy a Liane Moriarty book, the joy of blogging adds to authors I want to try!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you enjoyed it too Kathryn, and that you like Liane Moriarty, me too. Thanks for visiting and commenting.

ReplyDeleteStation Eleven was great. I feel like it's a book I will read again and again.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Spring is finally on its way!
I am really enjoying it so far! Yes, it's lovely.
DeleteStation Eleven is so good! That was one of my favorite books from last year. I read Liane Moriarty's Big, Little Lies and I really enjoyed it. But I haven't read any of her other books.
ReplyDeleteSo many readers have loved it.
DeleteI still need to read that one of hers, I think that will be the next one of hers that I read. Thanks for visiting :)
I really, really enjoyed Station Eleven. I haven't read The Last Anniversary yet, but I have it on my Kindle. I just recently read another Moriarty novel (Three Wishes) so I'm giving myself a little time before I start another book by her.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear! I will have to look for Three Wishes, I wonder if it has the same name here. Thanks for visiting and commenting Melinda :)
DeleteStation Eleven is moving up my wishlist - lots of people talking about it and it's now on the very longlist for the Baileys Women's Prize, so more of a buzz developing around it.....
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you embracing Aussie wriiter Moriarty :-)
It has been calling to me for ages after reading so much about it and I've finally started it, hurray!
DeleteI do like Liane Moriarty's writing, really enjoyable to me.
I have wanted to read some of Liane Moriarty's books and this sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
It is, though I think I liked The Husband's Secret even more. Thank you! :)
DeleteStation Eleven is on my TBR list. I'm waiting for a copy to become available at the library.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying it a lot so far, hope you like it when your a copy arrives.
DeleteHi Lindsay... I'm not sure I've dropped by your blog before but I've been keen to find some UK bloggers to follow! Sheila's linkup exposes me to a lot of US bloggers and I'm in Australia, so I know most Aussie book bloggers, but it's good to expand my horizons and see what others are reading elsewhere!
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo... believe it or not, I've read NO Liane Moriarty but I really need to rectify that. And I've heard good things about Station Eleven.
Deb
Thanks for visiting and commenting Deborah! It's nice to find your blog too. Look forward to visiting your blog again soon!
DeleteWe seem to have similar taste in books so I'm now following your blog. I loved The Husband's Secret and I'm sure it's just me in an 'antsy' mood with The Last Anniversary, my best friend loved it too. I haven't read Station Eleven but it's on my groaning TBR pile lol. Have a great week and happy reading :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much. I am following yours too, it's a lovely blog. Thanks for your lovely comment and I hope you get a bit more into The Last Anniversary.
DeletePS where about's in the UK do you live? looking back at my trip photos just makes me want to go back, a month is no where near long enough. All that history ... I loved it so much.
ReplyDeleteI am in Cambridgeshire, and so glad you enjoyed your time in the UK!
DeleteOh my gosh - I'd never seen this cover for Station Eleven - a bit jarring! I loved it. On the flip side, I've sworn off Liane Moriarty after trying 3 of her books. I just can't take all the mommy politics.
ReplyDeleteI must admit I really like this cover but I've seen it around a lot and got used to it. Ah well she can't be for everyone.
DeleteI am curious about the Anniversary. Enjoy both books!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kimba :) I have finished that one and loved it.
DeleteHi Lindsay, There's been quite a buzz about Station Eleven, so I'll be very interested to hear your take on it. I'm currently reading a Raymond Chandler...sheer unalloyed pleasure for me!
ReplyDeleteYes I finally gave in to the buzz and was intrigued to see if I liked it - so far so good. Glad you are reading something that is so enjoyable!
DeleteHi Lindsay - I also have not read Station Eleven but I want to. It sounds really good. I am looking forward to your commentary on it.
ReplyDeleteThe weather here in New York is also, thankfully, getting nicer.
It's a good read so far Brian, thanks. Glad to hear that!
DeleteI thought Station Eleven was okay, but can see why others like it. I hope you enjoy it as well.
