Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

  2. I think most of my November went by in a blurr. I just finished Everyone Lies by A.D. Garrett - really good debut novel - still to do my review.

  5. November was a good sort of month for reading. It started with Rags & Bones, a collection of re-told fairy tales and such, included 2 excellent crime novels - The Lost by Claire McGowan + The Long Shadow by Liza Marklund - but the highlight was an early read of Anna Hope's debut Wake, about women trying to put their lives together in the years after WW1.

    1. That sounds great Mary. I loved The Lost, glad you did too, and I would like to get hold of The Long Shadow soon. I've heard about Wake, one for me to watch out for.
