Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

I visited Guernsey as a child, with my parents. My Dad worked for BEA, so we often travelled 'standby' and on this occasion there were no seats on the flight. So we were 'bumped' onto the Jersey flight and then island hopped on the tiny Trilander aircraft. I can remember my father reaching out from his seat to touch both sides of the plane.
A fabulous holiday, with a boat trip to the beautiful Herm Island and sunny afternoons exploring coastal walks. Ah, nostalgia ain't what it used to be....

  7. I'd also love to enter the book giveaway and thank you for this opportunity to try for it.

I've visited Guernseyby air with my family for a holiday. We stayed in a small friendly hotel near the centre of the island and loved exploring the different sights. I've also sailed into St Peter's Port a couple of times en route to Jersey - a huge favourite of ours. St Peter's Port is so beautiful seen from the sea - it makes your heart swell.
