Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

It's Monday! What Are You Reading?

It was so very cold here over the weekend, especially on Saturday, that curling up under several blankets with a book was really the only sensible option!

'It's Monday! What are you reading?' is a weekly meme hosted by Sheila at bookjourney.

What I read last week:

The Queen's Secret by Victoria Lamb
The Story of Beautiful Girl by Rachel Simon
Wonder by R. J. Palacio
The Midwife of Venice by Roberta Rich

What I'm currently reading:

The Holy Thief by William Ryan
Cells by Harriet Grace
The Secrets of Mary Bowser by Lois Leveen
Love Always by Harriet Evans

What I hope to read next:

Vanished by Liza Marklund
The Book of Summers by Emylia Hall
Please Don't Stop the Music by Jane Lovering

Have a wonderful reading week all.

  1. Have a good week, Lindsay!

I was terribly cold too, now it's much better. The temperature is just around freezing and that almost feels warm!

    1. Yep, similar here, grateful for it being zero or plus 2 degrees now!

  2. Thanks Lindsay for visiting my blog! I hope you have a good week and a good reading week too!

  3. I've got The Midwife of Venice in my tbr pile

    1. I liked it a lot. Reading it got me through a tough weekend. Lucky enough to have the author visiting next week too.

  4. I've heard The Story of Beautiful Girl is very powerful. It's on my tbr list.
    Happy Reading!

    1. It is a powerful story and subject matter. You too!

  5. Story of Beautiful Girl is on my to-read list. I wish I'd been able to spend my cold weekend curled up under blankets with a book. Sounds like heaven!

    1. Ah I feel really lucky now that I was able to do that Jen. Hope you can sometime soon!

  6. Please Don't Stop the Music sounds like a great one!

  7. You have a nice line-up of books, hope you can stay warm and fit lots more reading in, it really doesn't get that cold here even in winter :)
