Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

Books of the year 2011

It's tough to try and pick favourites from amongst so many wonderful reads this year.

However, here are just some of my favourite's from what I have read during 2011 (in no particular order other than Into The Darkest Corner was my number 1!):

Into the Darkest Corner - Elizabeth Haynes

Still Alice - Lisa Genova

Alone in Berlin - Hans Fallada

The Proof of Love - Catherine Hall

Fallen Grace - Mary Hooper

Next to Love - Ellen Feldman

All That I Am - Anna Funder

The Novel in the Viola - Natasha Solomons

The Hand that First Held Mine - Maggie O'Farrell

The Rabbit Girl - Mary Arrigan

Star Gazing - Linda Gillard

The Absolutist - John Boyne

Have you read any of these or have you got them on your to be read pile or on your wishlist?

I've written reviews of many of these, find them here in my Review Directory.
