Book Reviews

‘The best moments in reading are when you come across something - a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things - which you had thought special and particular to you. And now, here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.’ Alan Bennett

“Many a book is like a key to unknown chambers within the castle of one’s own self.” ― Franz Kafka

Wishlist Wednesday

I'm taking part in a weekly blog hop today, hosted by Dani at Pen to Paper. Visit the site and join in.

Wishlist Wednesday is a book blog hop where we will post about one book per week that has been on our wishlist for some time, or just added (it's entirely up to you), that we can't wait to get off the wishlist and onto our wonderful shelves.

This time I've chosen The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. It's been on my wishlist a little while. It seems to be causing a bit of a stir in the book world, I keep hearing and reading about this novel everywhere, email newsletters from bookshops and book websites, and on other lots of book blogs I follow, and my interest was piqued!

I'm interested in it even though it is, from what I've read, more along the lines of magic and fantasy, and maybe therefore sounds a little outside the sort of book I normally read. I think it will challenge my perceptions and expand my book horizons a bit. So this one is on my wishlist and I will think about buying it in the run up to Christmas, once I am through with some more review books and books I've been hoping to read for ages...!

  1. I agree, it's literally everywhere. It's been on my TBR list for quite a while even though I'm not sure it's something I would normally read. Can't wait to hear what you think about it (if you manage to get and read it) :)
Here's my WW post for this week. :)

  2. Lindsay, just the cover and title of this book alone makes me want to read it!

It even has a recommendation from Audrey Niffenegger who is my favourite author. I have to admit I haven't heard of this one before so thank you so much for bringing it to my attention! I think I'll be adding this to my wishlist next week!

Also, thanks so much for adding my button to your site! I'm also going to add yours to mine.

I hope you get to read the book soon!

  3. Vicky, I like the sound of your wishlist book!

Megan, I like Audrey Niffenegger too. Thank you re the button add :)

  4. I found out about this one a couple of weeks before it came out, and I'm really excited about it! I've added it to my Christmas list for someone to get me though, because I always struggle for things I want, and people moan at me for this! So I'm leaving it be for now :(

  5. Hope it pops up under your Xmas tree then! x

  6. I've seen this book everywhere! It looks amazing!!

  7. Dare I admit that this is the first time I have heard of this one! It may be a little out of my comfort zone as well, but I see Audrey Niffengger recommends it, so will look out for reviews for this now.

  8. I have vaugely heard of this one Lindsay, but on reading the description this one sounds just my kind of thing. One for the wishlist!
